Reflecting on Milestones: Cherishing Life’s Most Precious Moments

Introduction to Milestone Month in July
Milestones are the theme for July. We’ve been interjecting personal spins on important months throughout the year: January was mentoring month, April was Parkinson’s Awareness month, and now, for July, it’s Milestone month.
Reflecting on Life’s Significant Milestones
Out of all the milestones I’ve hit in my life—and there have been many—college, marriage (37 years), raising two children, starting a business and reaching 10 years, the hardest one has been my son’s wedding. I can’t describe the mix of emotions that has overcome me. It is a feeling of joy, for sure, but also a feeling of sadness. As I reflect on this milestone, I realize that it has to do with time. As Geoffrey Chaucer said, “Time and tide wait for no man” or in my case, woman.
Embracing Change and Looking Forward
I’ve always tried to be conscientious, making sure to take time to enjoy the moments I’m in, with the people I’m with, at the time I’m in them. This milestone, like all others, reminds me of the importance of being present, cherishing every second, and embracing the changes that come with the passage of time. And as I look forward, I know that each milestone is not just an end, but a new beginning, filled with opportunities for growth and new memories.
